So who is Ollie?
Ollie is an ordinary schoolboy, with the same problems that our children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces have too.
Ollie started out as a character, created by child therapist Ali Knowles, to help some of her clients. Ollie, and his friends Mollie and Mr Wilcox, proved so popular and so effective, that Ali turned her creation into a series of books and began training other therapists in the techniques she was using.
Ali realised that traditional therapy methods had too many big words and complicated concepts to keep children – and a lot of adults too – engaged in the therapy process. Through Ollie, she simplified things, and made them much more fun!
How does it work?
Ollie teaches people that they have Super Powers – emotions – and not only that, they can use them to change how they feel. An emotion like sad, or angry, is only a small part of who you are. Sometimes it might feel like they can be huge and overwhelming, but they can be made small again – that’s where the Ollie Coaches come in.
Ollie Coaches don’t “fix” people, they go one better – they teach people how to use a whole range of techniques to help themselves. We want to give clients the power to help themselves through anything that life can throw at them. Because of this, we’re one of the few groups of therapists teaching prevention techniques as well as the traditional “cure” ones.
You don’t need to wait for things to get bad before finding help – although that’s often when people find us – we can help from any point! We’re working with schools and organisations across the country to give children the skills to develop emotional resilience, and in one-to-one work, both in schools and privately, to help with everything from exam stress or eating disorders, to phobias and abuse.

Why is Ollie Coaching better?
Ollie Coaches are trained to get into their client’s model of the world. Children are so creative that this can mean that we help them be powerful princesses that can battle dragons, or use a suit of armour like Iron Man to protect them.
Teenagers might be a bit reluctant to play like that, but they can get just as engaged with the lyrics from their favourite pop singer and use them as a powerful antidote to combat negative emotions.
And we know that parents can feel the pressure too – whether we’re engaging them with helping their child, or helping them with their own stresses and strains, we can bring a sigh of relief and a smile to most people’s faces.
Ollie in Schools
Ollie Coaches also work in schools – we can provide a range of services, all customised to your school and its specific needs. This could mean something as simple as our popular morning assembly to introduce anti-bullying Ollie-style. Or it could be through to days or half-days in school working one-to-one with specific children that need that extra bit of help with whatever they’re going through.
We’re happy to put you in touch with people in the schools we’re working with, so you can hear directly what they think, not just what we think you want to hear!
